Information about your new bed:
Your new bed will be taller!
While it is expected, it might be surprising. Box springs and especially mattresses are now thicker. The mattresses today are designed with more layers of cushioning to help reduce pressure points and tossing and turning. And, your mattress has "shrunk" over the years. If this is a problem, the first rule is "change the height, not the mattress." Ask us about reduced height box springs, or bed frames that reduce the overall height of the bed.
Queen & King beds need center support(s) to the floor or a 5-legged frame.
Body Impressions vs. Sagging:
Your mattress is designed to conform to your body characteristics for comfort and support just like a pair of shoes conforms to your feet. Body impressions are normal and expected. Thicker, plusher beds will show a more pronounced impression than firmer beds. You should only worry if the impressions are over 1½" deep. This is very rare and your warranty protects you from this type of defect. Sometimes the bed feels like there is a "ridge" toward the center of the bed, especially in KING beds. This can occur since people sleep apart or not often in the middle of the bed. Consequently, the foam layers in the center of the bed do not really get slept on or broken in. If this bothers you, try finding creative ways to use the center: reading, watching TV, cuddling, napping, etc. Body impressions should not be confused with sagging. Sagging looks like the mattress is sinking in one area, often in the center of the bed. This defect is covered in your manufacturer's warranty.
Adjusting to a new mattress:
Most people go through an "adjustment period" with their new mattress. This is completely normal and to be expected. Your old mattress likely lost its support capabilities long ago and your body was conforming to a non-supportive bed while sleeping. The adjustment period may last a few days, a couple of weeks, or in very rare cases even longer.
Warranty and care information:
The following (2) situations will VOID your warranty. 1) Removing the "law label" on your mattress. This "law label" has coded information that the manufacturer uses to identify the mattress. 2) A mattress that is stained or soiled. We suggest using a mattress pad. You should rotate your new bed as needed. Fortunately, you do not have to turn it anymore! Lastly, it is a good idea to keep your store receipt and warranty information in a "known" place.
Once again, thank you for your trust and sweet dreams!
